Over 320,000 households in London are on waiting lists for social housing, with east London having the highest combined list, more than north, south and west London put together.
Up to 1 in 20 people are homeless in east London.
East London has seen an almighty investment post-Olympics, but has that investment reached everyone?
Medical doctor turned epidemiologist, Jose Izcue Gana, and theatre maker Libby Liburd joined forces, working with east London residents to interrogate the impact of regeneration and housing insecurity on wellbeing. We’ve worked together across nearly a year to create an audio drama experience inspired by the lived experiences of residents navigating social housing systems, hidden homelessness and precarious housing.
We invite you to our special event where you’ll have an opportunity to be immersed in our audio visual world. We’ll also be curating a panel discussion, where we’ll be exploring the power of centring lived experiences and storytelling in research.
Panel includes:
Paul Watt, Visiting Professor, Department of Sociology, London School of Economics
Jane Williams, Founder of The Magpie Project
Shadé Joseph, Creative Artist & Storyteller
